Below are some scripture-based prompts you can use in prayer for your own family.
Holy God, fill us with the knowledge of your will, with spiritual understanding and wisdom so that we may walk in a manner worthy of Jesus Christ our Savior. Bind us together in one spirit and strengthen us against any who oppose you and help us to withstand struggles as we believe upon Christ. (Philippians 1:27-30)
God reveal to us places where we are conforming to the ways of this world. Lead us into your way that is everlasting, by the truth of Your Word transform us, renew our minds and reveal your good, pleasing and perfect will. (Psalms 139:23-4; Romans 12:2)
May we be as a tree firmly planted by streams of water. By your strength and spirit may we yield fruit in its season and prosper in whatever we do because your word is within us and you are the foundation of our lives. (Psalm 1:2-4)
Father, create a new steadfastness in our hearts, with pure motives to love and serve you. May Jesus come to have first place in everything we do. (Psalms 51:10; Colossians 1:18)
Father, cause us to understand the effects of our choices. May any one of us be convicted quickly by your Holy Spirit when we are guilty of wrong so that we confess and turn away from our sin and into your mercy. Help us to admit our wrongdoing and seek your compassion and forgiveness. (Proverbs 28:13)
Gracious Heavenly Father, we know you have called us to be disciples. Cause us to see those around us who need to know you. Teach us how to give reasons for the hope we have in Jesus, to speak in loving and gentle ways, with confidence and without boasting. (1 Peter 3:15)
God, reveal the beauty of your plans for families to us. Show us how to be loving wives who willingly submit to husbands as the head of the home. Fill husbands with the love of Christ, with willingness to give up their own rights and live obediently to you, Father. (Ephesians 5:22-33)
Create obedient spirits within our children, may they please you, Lord. Bless them as they yield to parents and encourage them. Cause our children to grow and become strong in spirit. (Ephesians 6:1-3; Luke 1:80)
As parents, God, we need your instructions to flow through us to train our children according to your ways. Help us not to lean on our own understanding, but to always choose to acknowledge what you say and choose to trust by walking in obedience to your word. (Ephesians 6:4; Proverbs 3:5-6)
